Turku Art Society, which administrates the Turku Art Museum, provides annually grants to professional visual artists living in the Turku area. Grants available for application 16 March – 16 April 2020 are 10,000 euros from Magnus and Ellen Dahlström Fund and 10,000 euros from Helena Bruun Fund. In addition, 5 travel grants of 1,000 euros and 6 monthly grants of 500 euros for artists going to international artist residencies are available. You can apply for a monthly allowance for three or six months.
This spring the association is also awarding ten new grants of 2,000 € because of the COVID-19. The grants are aimed at Turku-based professional visual artists, whose employment opportunities have been reduced or their livelihood has been jeopardized by the coronavirus epidemic.
- 1 x 10 000 € from Magnus and Ellen Dahlström Fund
- 1 x 10 000 € from the Helena Bruun Fund
- 5 x 1000 € travel grants
- 6 x 500 € / month residency grant for artists going to international artist residencies (3 x 3 months and 3 x 6 months)
- 10 x 2 000 € for artistic work
An artist can apply for a travel grant when performing or exhibiting his/her works in solo or group exhibitions in Finland or abroad, at art festivals or other art events. Travel grants may only be used for personal costs related to travelling, accommodation, artwork transportation or insurance. The residency grant is intended to cover the travel and rent expenses during the residency.
The online application is open from March 16, 2020 until April 16, 2020 at 23:59 on the museum’s website at www.turuntaidemuseo.fi/en/grants-and-studio.
The grant application can also be submitted by post. The application and its appendices must be submitted by April 16, 2020 at 7 pm to the Turku Art Museum, Aurakatu 26, 20100 Turku. The application form can be downloaded on the museum’s website or found at the museum cashier.
